Following the 2024 election, a group of African Americans, from every county in Delaware, gathered having decided that African Americans in Delaware must make important choices. There was a consensus that all the things the group had done, and was doing, to eliminate race and color as the determinants for their persistent unequal status in American society, had not worked and indeed were being erased. The American story has been that historically White people have taken deliberate decisions to divide American society according to color, and Black people have as a result suffered extreme negative effects.
Furthermore, we agreed that current conditions required us to rethink and reconsider new strategies in the face of entrenched institutional racism across the state, the nation, and the world. It is understood that this burden is unique in that no other group has embraced the “American way” more than African Americans yet continue to be judged by color rather than by character.
The Black Agenda Group is committed to facilitating sustainable activities by and for Black people to function optimally in Delaware without the burden of race and color. We must establish strategies and tactics that will make our choices real, concrete and impactful.
